Marcella Hayes Muhammad
Earth Spirit by Marcella Hayes Muhammad Image: Bee populations worldwide have been threatened by massive deforestation, climate change, pesticides and other factors. In some areas of the world people have to pollinate their crops by hand because the bees have been killed off by pesticides. I have not seen any real bees in my area for some time now, only bumble bees. This fact inspired me to create a visual statement of the need for better conservation. This colorful Earth Spirit painting houses the endangered honey bees surrounded by clean waters and growing fields flowing around the cultural symbols for growth and success. I have juxtaposed the positive and the negative with my oils to create a blending atmosphere on canvas. This painting is focused on the conservation of bees. I have little bees buzzing around this canvas and their hives, full of honey, are placed in spots. Do you see them?
