After losing her physical ability to work as a traditional makeup artist in 2015, Madelynn adapted her abilities to redefine her place as a cosmetic painter. In 2020, coinciding with her admittance to SAIC, the COVID-19 pandemic rendered face-to-face makeup artistry a health risk.
Madelynn bridges and examines the gap between makeup and fine art, using her expiring makeup kit as a medium transcending worlds. Here, abstraction works to translate editorial makeup beyond skin.
