Statement
Maddy Gyselynck (pronounced ‘Geyser-link’, Flemish roots) is a British artist from London. Her work reveals how she sees and absorbs the physical world around her, and seeks a way of processing experiences and connecting people.
Maddy is inspired by many great artists of the past, including Caravaggio, JMW Turner, John Piper, Boudin, and Sargent. Her main focus is oil and charcoal portraits, however some of her more experimental works mix media and styles. She's also increasingly working in three dimensions in bronze & ceramic and painting landscapes ‘en plein air’ in the parks of London and the countryside of the Thames Valley.
In 2020 she left her career in financial services in order to pursue art full time and now teaches courses at London Fine Art Studios - where she also holds the De Laszlo Foundation Scholarship - around her own projects.
Further information on Maddy's process and details on her latest work at the Studios and elsewhere can be found on her Blog at www.maddygyselynck.com & on her Instagram page. If you have any questions, including if you're interested in buying or commissioning work, please check and get in touch. Much of the work shown in the galleries on this site is available for immediate purchase, more recent paintings may require some drying time.
