When I am out of the city, I relax by scouring the ground for rocks, shells or anything interesting. I spent my time this way when I was staying on the coast of the Puget sound; every morning at low tide, I would set out to look for these treasures. Towards the end of my stay, I knew I could not bring them all home. I had grown somewhat attached to these inanimate objects to the point that I was drawing them with facial features. This painting is an ode to the shells I left behind.
