This work was part of my MFA thesis exhibition and thesis titled, Entanglements: Envisioning Ecocentrism Through Visual Narratives. In my final semester, I did a residency at the Artist Association of Nantucket. During that time I had the opportunity to draw bird specimens, notably, some barn owls. The drawings made their way into this painting, capturing the two birds entwined in both life and death. In this work, the owls are in various states of decomposition, with crocus growing through their hybrid bodies, while mice--vital to their energy-- float as an intricate part of their ecology.
