Buttercup Glow Up is a joyful tribute to the simple pleasures of both nature and childhood. Created in soft pastel using pastel pencils, this piece captures a red fox basking in golden light, surrounded by wild buttercups. Its expression is one of pure contentment—the kind of moment that stops time and fills the soul.
As I worked on this piece, I was transported back to my school days in Australia. I remembered running through grassy ovals dotted with wild buttercups, laughing with friends. We’d pluck the bright yellow blooms and hold them under each other’s chins, asking, “Do you like butter?”—and if the sun was out, the glowing yellow reflection always meant yes. It was a silly, sweet ritual, but it lives in me still.
