"Fire Flight"
This is one from the archives!
I've held onto this piece as a personal favorite for a long time.
Acrylic and oil
In 2015 it was featured in a Dark Art show in Chicago called "Maleficium", hosted and curated by J. Anthony Kosar. What an honor!
This painting started off using a reference image but then my whim and automatism took me on a journey, and before I knew it I had a strange masked bird-woman character. It is painted in layers. I started with some acrylic paint drips and abstraction, and then I completely covered it with oil. You can see some of the first layer peeking through, both visually and texturally.
The frame size is estimated at 17" x 21" x 3" (I need to measure it)
