Resin, Fabric, epoxy clay
Inspiration:
"Memories of my mother who migrated back and forth from Puerto Rico to New York to work in garment factories while staying connected to her roots and family back in the island. Mami moved on to driving taxis and later a security guard before retiring. She was a model to my siblings and of faith, resilience and grit to keep going even in adversity. "
Lucy Giboyeaux incorporates objects for symbolism and preservation of culture and awareness. The Pilón used for grinding spices and sewing items. The passport reminds us Puerto Rican citizenship not requiring passports to fly to PR facilitating ease of return migration.
