Our ability to keep and build strong connections with people and the community today is often challenged.
Painting in my process I started with markings, intuitively as a freeing unmasked action. As I progressed, I adapted to the form the painting took me. I tie this to the feeling that resiliency requires adaptability.
In the figures, I also think about how people come into your life for a season and impact you. Tiny squares move around and repeat in textured mulberry lace paper remind me of movement, like the migration to Puerto Rico my family did growing up which taught me many lessons of resilience and new ways as I learned more about my culture, to connect with people.

En las cifras, también pienso en cómo las personas entran en tu vida durante una temporada y te impactan. Pequeños cuadrados se mueven y se repiten en papel de encaje de morera texturizado me recuerdan el movimiento, como la migración a Puerto Rico que mi familia hizo mientras crecía, lo que me enseñó muchas lecciones de resiliencia y nuevas formas a medida que aprendí más sobre mi cultura, para conectarme con la gente.
