- Oil On Canvas
Below Wenneker writes about the process of creating The Eyelash:
As this piece was made in class, my process began with thumbnails, posing my sister in the bathroom and getting some reference photos, a graphite transfer, then the actual painting process. The piece draws inspiration from the course material in my attempt to implement Wayne Theibaud’s “lap around the color wheel.” I also took inspiration from Edward Hopper’s use of contrasting curved and straight lines in his painting Office at Night. And as a further nod to Hopper, I made the towel red and also my sister a redhead.
The Eyelash was acquired in 2025 by the Art on Campus Task Force as part of an ongoing effort to grow the LPC art collection, with a focus on local Bay area artists and LPC student artists. Learn more at www.laspositascollege.edu/artoncampus.
