Stephanie Guilin is a freelance photographer and Las Positas College alumnus. She grew up in the wilds of western Colorado where she developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, be it a hawk guarding its prey or a sunset which has exploded with color.
Stephanie sees the world through the lens and captures as many moments in time as she can. She feels this is her greatest means of communication and wishes to share her vision of the natural world through her work.
In the three photographs that make up LPC’s collection of Guilin’s work (Nature’s Mirror, Golden Sunset, and Big Storm) we see our own East Bay landscape as seen through Guillin’s lens. It is serene, starkly beautiful, and wild. It is at once familiar and wonderous and celebrates our natural landscapes. The photographs are printed on metal plates, creating a unique canvas for Guilin’s work.
Nature’s Mirror, Golden Sunset, and Big Storm were acquired in 2022 by the Art on Campus Task Force as part of an ongoing effort to grow the LPC art collection, with a focus on local Bay area artists and LPC student artists.
