I love personifying nature. When I think of the rivers, trees, and mountains as alive and connected to me, I have more respect for them. I have created some visual play in this painting with the distant mountains visually acting as wings and her dress becoming rivers. She is completely grounded and stable in the earth as a mountain, but the allusion to wings brings to the mind the ability to act and move with intention. When the forces to stay and be still are in balance with the desire to move and act, then I find peace like a river in my soul.
