Using a twist on the traditional log-cabin quilt block, Textile Intarsia #2 features 140+
miniature blocks of 1”, 2” or 3” square. I sought create an overall image that pops and moves featuring as much variety in color, “wonky” sizes and contrast as possible. Using bright and vivid color and shapes to create an immersive polychromatic experience is my quilting passion.
Textile Intarsia #2 features 140+ miniature quilt blocks within an 19”x18” improv mini quilt. Each tiny block is carefully cut, and crafted individually like a brilliant gemstone. My aim is to create an overall image that pops and moves featuring as much variety in color, “wonky” sizes and contrast as possible. Each tiny block (that measure 1”, 2” or 3”) was created as an unique jewel with detail that sparkles alone, as well as collectively as a whole, encouraging the viewer to linger over the piece to explore and take a closer look. I love creating these as I challenge myself to create endless new shapes, designs and combinations. I get a fluttery thrill when I see how they come together.
