Begun in 2023 as a text-on-denim quilt proclaiming NO PERSON IS ABOVE THE LAW, the original piece was inspired by the ongoing criminal trials of former president Donald Trump. In July 2024, the Supreme Court granted the president the power of a monarch in Trump v. U.S. My faith in the rule of law was torn to shreds. I chopped it into pieces and arranged in a jumble - just as SCOTUS has done to the fundamentals of U.S. law. I purposely kept the edges raw and uneven - as is our current justice system.
