This painting was done after my father died. The figure has now gotten very small, and is suspended in space inside the bull's eye. Numbers and letters merge in and out of the space around the figure. The words are taken from the famous poem: The Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred Lord Tennyson:
"Boldly we rode and well
Stormed at by Shot and by Shell"
It is meant to pay tribute to my father, in that overall, he did ride through life boldly and well considering life's hardships. It also is a reference to Mr. Ramsey in Virginia Wolf's book "To the Light House", as he recites some of this poem as well, and because the very flawed chara
