Where Angels Remember" was not an easy painting to create. How do you paint a wish to give hope and comfort to someone who has experienced a heartbreaking loss? As a little child, I felt strongly that there is a purpose to living the life we are given and that we are here to help each other. I have had those impressions repeated over and over again throughout the years. I want to share this feeling and observation in all my artwork. This painting is no exception, created especially for the Alexander Neville Foundation fundraiser.
The roses and forget-me-not flowers bring a gentle smile to the young angel's lips as she gathers a bouquet representing love and memories to be cherished forever. The dead leaves of winter, although bright gold and tired, are necessary to nourish the soil for the future flowers of Spring and Summer. Butterflies rise up from the bright flame of a candle that will never grow cold and dark as we honor and keep in our hearts those we hold dear. We will see each other once again.
When I saw the angel photographed by Melissa Bittinger of MelsArtfulStudio, Etsy, I knew right away that I wanted her to be in this painting. Melissa kindly permitted me to use her as portrayed in the painting. Please visit her store on Etsy to see more of her superb prints.
