Florida is known for its citrus and mocking birds are the Florida State bird, so this painting is quintessential Florida.

I personally have a love hate relationship with the Mockingbird, I love it of course because it is Florida's bird, but it's also kind of mean.

My grandmother always had a nest of red birds in a tree out in front of her kitchen window. every year the mockingbirds would wait until the pair of bread birds had finished their nest then they would swoop in and take it from them. I have seen this pattern repeated in the trees at my mother's house as well. So I will always love them because they are birds and because they are Florida, But I really wish they weren't so mean. :)
