Kayaking on the Silver River, Silver Springs, Florida
Silver Springs is one of the world's largest artesian springs, gushing millions of gallons of clear water to form the Silver River, a 4½-mile stretch that feeds the Ocklawaha River and eventually the St. Johns.
My View:
OH NO! I have seen the gators in there! I am from Florida, and I am STILL not going in that water. But I did go down the river on a boat. Can't resist, it is so blue and beautiful AND there are monkeys. Really...there are!
Silver River has a lot of history running through it. it is where The Swamp Thing, Tarzan (The reason that there are monkeys around the area) , and quite a few other films were made. It is a busy river, boats, kayakers, paddle-boarders, birds, turtles, and yes lots of gators. People flock to it for the turquoise springs and a feel of "Old Florida".
