Jeanne May and Liz Morton have painted, talked and challenged each other with their works. Very different, yet each creating their own language with paint.

Jeanne's work is emotive, manifesting itself with vibrant colors and bold brushworks. She blends realism with abstraction for an expression of figurative art. Liz's work is vibrant, celebrates color, movement, and the sensory allure of abstract forms. You will find a heavy use of texture in her work as well as a use of different mediums that help achieve rich layers and depth in her works.

Jeanne May

Jeanne May is an oil painter working in Stella, North Carolina, USA. Her work blends abstraction with realism using expressive brush work, cold wax medium and a vibrant color palette. She began oil painting at the age of 10 but started her full time art journey in 2023 after retiring from a career in teaching. Jeanne’s figurative works are deeply intertwined with her emotional response to women’s rights and environmental issues. Being mostly self taught, Jeanne seeks out opportunities to study with established artist both locally and internationally, most recently in Portugal with Tania Rivilis. Her work has been published in Homiens “Meet the Artist” and in American Art Collector “Collector’s Focus – Art of the Nude” July, 2025.

Liz Morton

Liz Morton is an award-winning abstract painter based on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina, USA. Her paintings impart a sense of universality and introspection, suggesting emotional states or states of being rather than concrete narratives. Liz blends texture with impressionistic color in her approach to nature and imagination Painting in watercolor, acrylic, oil, and cold wax Liz maintains thematic continuity and with a refreshing appeal. Liz began painting at the age of 5 and started exhibiting in the DC Metropolitan Area in 2015 with her retirement to the Crystal Coast in 2020, she is living the art life she always dreamed of. Liz is represented by Impressions Art Gallery (MHC), Carolina Artist Gallery (MHC) and is a Member of the Women’s Caucus for Art, Member of the Society of Layerists in Multi-Media, the Wilmington Artist Association, and the Arts Council of Carteret County.
