Purchased by the Fine Arts Board
“New bicycle racks were installed on Main Street on Saturday, May 4 [2013].
John Brackney and Brian Vogt, leaders of the popular Halloween ‘Haunted Tours of Littleton,’ donated $20,000 raised by the tours over the past several years to the City of Littleton and the Fine Arts Board (FAB) for the purpose of installing ‘artistic’ bicycle racks in Downtown Littleton. Avid bicyclists and Downtown Littleton supporters, Brackney and Vogt want to encourage Littleton residents and visitors to ride their bicycles to shop and dine in the community and have places to lock their bikes.
The FAB, along with Brackney, Museum Director Tim Nimz and Public Works Director Charlie Blosten, selected the proposals of Caleb Kullman, from Montrose, Colorado, and Kim Kaminski, a Littleton artist. Kullman’s design is titled ‘Mountain Peaks’ and Kaminski’s is ‘Wagon Wheels.’ Her design features relief story plates on each hub depicting scenes that represent Littleton.
The racks were installed by the artists and a team of city employees. Denise Weed, chair of the FAB, introduced the artists and thanked Brackney and Vogt for their generosity.” –Littleton Report, June/July 2013, page 3
