Mosaic on the Title Guaranty Building, located at 2000 W Littleton Blvd, Littleton. The building was designed by Joseph and Louise Marlow, and the mosaic by Rene Heyvaert, in 1961. For more information, please refer to p. 45 of the exceptional document, "Commercial Modernism in the Greater West Littleton Boulevard Corridor 1950-1980", produced by the City of Littleton:
"The Marlows moderated the severity of their less-is-more approach with a two-part constructivist style mosaic mural created by Rene Heyvaert, a Belgian artist who spent time in Denver. The mural flanks a glass and steel lantern-like entry volume underneath a deep porch formed by the overhang of the roof which is held up by piloti. There is the extensive use of glass block."

Why is this mosaic included in the "Murals" category? The City of Littleton's ULUC (Unified Land Use Code) uses a definition of mural which includes mosaic, even though a mosaic is structurally and artistically different. For this reason, this mosaic is also included in the "Sculptures" category. How would you describe a mosaic? Is it a mural or a sculpture, or is it something entirely different?
