The 4th Connecticut Lake is more aptly called a pond on the NH border with Canada. It's muddy, buggy, and the trail is often covered in an elevated web of roots from the pine trees that choke out the sun. Moose are more plentiful than people and you can sense you need to be a polite visitor about to walk into their home.
