The Pink Elephant Car Wash has been an icon in the greater Seattle area since it first opened in 1951 . The iconic Pink Elephant sign was designed by Seattle’s “Queen of Neon” Beatrice Haverfield. She also designed the Ivar’s and Dick’s Drive-In signs!

There are many elements in the original 12x12 mixed media art on canvas including:
Found papers
Acrylic paints & mediums
Collage techniques
Drywall tape
Seattle photography (I was lucky enough to take this photo of the Pink Elephant back in 2010 before the Denny Way location closed in 2020). The legend lives on! If you know where the sign is currently, it would be great to know where. Thanks so much! Cheers, Lisa
