Grumpy was a boat that was drydocked at the Port of Everett in the Pacific Northwest. Grumpy was the actual name of the boat. In the background, Spike Africa is walking his dog. It came from a vintage PNW newspaper circular that I found in Langley, WA at the local thrift store. Joseph Scaylea was the photographer of Spike Africa, who was a great sailor. This was one of my first mixed media pieces. I overlaid a transparency film over the collage papers. I still have Grumpy, he's just fragile. I wish I could have chatted with Spike Africa and Joseph Scaylea!
