Afghan Archives had been brewing inside since the tragedy of Sept. 11th. I was dumb by the horror of knowing...knowing...before it happened that so many innocent people would have to die in retaliation. There was no morality in that feeling. Just an amazement that because our culture was so astute that we would know those things before they happened whereas in a country like that, as in the past, folks were going about their business when fire came from the sky. We knew they would die before they would. It made me think of Guernica, The Bayeux Tapestry and the wall reliefs in Greece, Egypt and Mesopotamia where battle scenes were depicted.
