A RARE VINTAGE LINDY! This early painting hung in my parents' home. I salvaged it from Mom's first downsizing. It's been languishing in storage ever since!
This rock-strewn mountain stream was a favorite hike and fishing hole of ours along the Rio Bonito. Deep in the wilderness area of Lincoln National Forest, we hiked and camped this area so often, I had the boulders memorized long before I painted this oil in 1980. While not my very first large oil painting, this one planted my young roots as a landscape painter. Water and rocks are still favorite painting subjects, but these days, I can't stay in the woods forever without seeing and painting sky as well. A wildfire ultimately took these woods, so my painting preserves that earlier time in nature. Perhaps one day, I'll return to paint the young regrowth as an older, more experienced artist.
