A full moon rises over the Sierra del Carmen across the Rio Grande from Big Bend National Park one October afternoon in the borderlands of Far West Texas. The colorful sunset display that competes races with the moon can be enjoyed from either side of the big river, but the pinks and blues of the del Carmen range seen from the desert floor is a sight you'll take with you and pull out whenever you need a moment of joy.
This pastel is one of three Lindy Cook Severns paintings published in TEXAS TRADITIONS, CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS OF THE LONE STAR STATE by Michael Duty and Susan Hallsten McGarry 2010.
