A summer storm formed above this Caprock Canyons landmark formation in the Texas Panhandle near Quitique. The already colorful canyons, soaked in morning sunlight, took on even richer and deeper shadows. While I did this painting back in my studio from photos I took, in my mind the heat of that August day was still burning my shoulders, my eyes still squinting in the bright sunlight, and I could still feel the temperature change as I stepped into the cool shade created by the towering cumulus.
