This is a two day workshop Wednesday 14th & Thursday 15th June 2023, 10am-4pm
Cowichan Community Centre 2687 James St, Duncan, B.C. V9L 2X5 Canada
In this workshop, you will develop your confidence and skill level as you explore different styles of free-motion embroidery and it will become a valuable technique to have in your toolbox. Just as a child learns the physical aspects of holding the drawing tool while coordinating their body movements you will learn how to work with your sewing machine as a drawing tool. Learn to sew lines with different energies and emotions, form them into expressive shapes and patterns, turn shapes into forms, and explore your own meaningful personal symbols. Various contour drawing exercises will develop your ability to focus and draw what you see. You will practice the skill of optical mixing so you can work with colour as a painter does.
