An article in the Globe and Mail caught my attention - Synesthesia is a condition of a brain with extra connections that mix the senses. There are many types of synesthesia. Some see a color when they hear a particular musical note. Some arrange the days of the week in set places around themselves.
The article got me thinking...I don’t have synesthesia but I have always had a feeling for the energy of color. Over the years, as I have studied color theory so have individual colors’ personalities developed for me. I decided to express my feeling for each color in a 24-hue color wheel using my medium of choice - fabric with stitch.
Working monochromatically I focused on expressing each color’s radiating energy through line and value. There are no motifs, only a sense of movement to express how I feel about each color. I have explored my understanding of synesthesia.
