Arnold Blanch (1896–1968) was born in Mantorville, Minnesota, and studied at the Minneapolis School of Art before training at the Art Students League in New York under John Sloan and Kenneth Hayes Miller. A versatile painter, muralist, and printmaker, Blanch became a prominent figure in American Scene painting and later abstraction, exhibiting widely and teaching at the Art Students League for decades.
