In the heart of St. Louis, Missouri, where railroads and rivers converge, a young girl named Leisa Corbett would grow up to discover the magic of art. Leisa's childhood was shaped by resilience and creativity. Her early years were marked by trips to public schools and a defining visit to her grandmother's artist friend, an encounter that would ignite her lifelong passion for art. Watching those three mesmerizing drawings come to life felt like witnessing magic, and a young Leisa knew immediately she was hooked.

The seeds of creativity were in her blood. Leisa's paternal grandmother and aunt were avid crafters, known for their beautiful quilts and intricate paintings. Encouraged by this familial backdrop of artistry, she pursued an Honors art program in high school. This dedication was the foundation of her vibrant artistic career. After earning an Associate's degree in art at St. Louis Community College at Meramec, Leisa continued her academic journey with a Bachelor's degree in Art History from the University of Maryland, European Division, and a Master's degree in Fine Arts from Vermont College of the Fine Arts..

Post-education, Leisa's path took intriguing turns. A brief stint in interior design left her uninspired, leading her to join the U.S. Army as a German linguist and interrogator. Her military tenure bestowed upon her a unique perspective and discipline, which she later channeled into her artwork while living in Berlin, Germany. It was there that Leisa truly embraced her destiny as a fine art painter, capturing the world's beauty and her emotions on canvas.

Nature's splendor has always been her muse, evoking powerful emotions she strives to express through her art. Leisa's focus on portraiture and the essence hidden beneath outward appearances reveals her profound connection to her subjects. Her journey from drawing horses and cats as a girl to painting evocative landscapes as an adult illustrates her evolution as an artist.

Leisa's creative process begins with the subject matter, followed by careful consideration of the medium—acrylic or oil paint— and technique. She meticulously decides whether to reveal dynamic brushstrokes or opt for a smoother application, each choice intended to serve her vision. Years of practice have refined her unique style, an ever-evolving endeavor to make her work stand out amidst conventional paintings.

Her abstract landscapes and dream paintings are particularly beloved, rewarding her with a deep sense of accomplishment. Influences like Edgar Degas, Alice Neel, John Singer Sargent, and Richard Diebenkorn resonate in her work, yet she continuously seeks new methods to break the mold. Recognition from significant bodies such as the Professional Artists Association and the Lake County Art League further attest to her artistry.

Leisa's accolades include the prestigious "Adjunct of the Year in Art History" and multiple "Awards of Excellence" and "Awards of Merit" in painting, showcasing her distinguished talent. Her work has graced many galleries across the United States and Berlin, Germany, where collectors frequently laud the dynamic movement and emotional depth her pieces evoke.

Beyond the artistic realm, Leisa's life is enriched by her love for reading, singing, and history, often engaging in trivia to challenge her keen intellect. She aspires to continue creating into her old age, seeking critical acclaim through exhibitions in museums and prominent galleries. Leisa Corbett's story is a testament to the transformative power of art, reflecting her enduring passion and the belief that art holds a vital role in society—an expressive force that connects and moves us all.
