In "Coastal Light," I painted this on-site in the Virginia Beach area to capture that fleeting magic of the shore. I love working with soft pastels because they have a raw, tactile energy that matches the feeling of painting from life—staying completely in the "now" before the sun shifts and the moment is gone.
