This creature came to me in a guided mediation about connecting with "bee energy." I wanted to create art based on but was intimidated by drawing to draw it. When I started working with cold wax, which has beeswax in it, I felt inspired to play. In the original imagery, the man was a host for bees, his body made of bee hive. It was a symbiotic relationship, and he would relocate for the bees so they didn't have to make a new hive when they wanted to move. This image of an armless man seated with knees up has shown up in other works and I am still exploring its meaning. Some of the ideas it brings up for me are gentle masculine energy, nature, and the sacred aspects of the tiny.
