FIRE FALL [oil] by Laura Pollak Image: Painting Memories-
When I was 5, our family visited Yosemite. I still have vivid memories of our time there.
This painting is of a memory that I wasn't sure if it was real or imagined. It was vivid but realistically, we can have faulty memories after all that time.
I decided to look up if I correctly remembered whether FIRE FALL in Yosemite at dusk was a real thing.
And YES! At the base of a mountain, we gathered and would look up to the heights of the cliffs where the rangers made a HUGE bonfire. When the moment was right they bulldozed it over the edge and the cascading embers veiled down like a waterfall of fire.
They stopped the practice in 1962 for environmental and fire concerns.
But this memory of pure magic has stayed with me all these years!
FIRE FALL is an Oil Painting that is 21 x 28.
