This painting evolved from a minimalist line sketch I did while hiking in Malibu Creek State Park, built up with transparent oil glazes in some of the forms and more opaque color in the cream colored sky. This results in a varied shimmering, glowing effect in the landscape when viewing from different angles -- the piece is unvarnished in order to retain this surface quality. Some areas have raised texture. The vibrant turquoise blue isn't fully captured digitally, in these images it reads less saturated and more purple-blue than in real life. The greens are deep with subtle color shifts, as in the images; the video brightens them quite a bit in the closeups. Signed on back.
