The quote at the top center of this painting is "Enchanted by the Unexpected" and when I added this phrase I knew this painting had to be filled with animated birds and butterfly's. I envisioned tall stems of poppies swaying as if they were dancing in the breeze. I wanted this painting to celebrate the pleasure of flower gardening and the joy of watching the many visitors that discover your labour of love.

I used a variety of muted colors in the background that suggest a warm summer afternoon. The textures are soft with abstract flowers here and there. As I neared completion of this painting I added the words "something special" as it was just how I felt about this painting. The more study this piece, the more you discover.
