Inspiration: This is the image that initiated the Angel/Encounter Series. As I was beginning to paint in acrylics and priming a new canvas, the image of wings began to form. Surprised by this, I left the canvas on my art table for several days trying to decide if I should continue with the image being revealed, or paint the landscape I had planned. I started priming another canvas, and it also began to look like angel wings, so I decided to continue with this imagery for both. Initially I painted Meeting Place in a horizontal position and it appeared as though two angel wings were crossing over and covering the flash of gold towards the bottom of the image, giving the impression of angel wings covering the Mercy Seat. The scriptural story reveals a place of encounter with God’s mercy.
