This mixed media painting is about recognition of the third gender in Mexico. Muxes are men who identify as feminine; but, are not labeled as transgender or homosexual. They are considered blessings to the families that they are born into and rarely marry. They are primarily found in Oaxaca, Mexico and have been around since the Aztec and Mayan civilizations.
