About:
Isn’t it strange how quickly life’s path can change after a crystal clear realization? Things you believe can’t change can change. It’s so easy to think our truths are immovable. Some build a black box out of their needs and wants and fears. Uncertainty and doubt reinforces that box, and results in a sort of suspension in time. But then – the curtain shifts, and suddenly there’s a new angle to consider. Something moves in them, and they move with it. The shrouds of what once was begin to fall away. Experiences where we learn that our closely held truths can change have been some of the most humbling, eye-opening, and freeing moments of my life.
The images in this section each employ the same photographic process. The prints shown were captured in-camera using a backlit negative, developed as for a standard gelatin silver print, then sent through the mordançage process. Alterations in image size, temperature, agitation level, and time spent in various chemistries impact the outcome of each portrait. Within this edition, both image size and variations in chemical ephemera exist.
These photographs are part of a series in progress, titled “Volumes”.
