Collection: Art You Can Feel
One of my best friends back home, in Georgia, is also arguably one of my biggest fans. He has supported my art for over a decade now by coming to shows, commissioning pieces, or just buying things I made that spoke to him. I was in the middle of a commission by him when he sadly lost his eyesight. Since then, I've been trying to think of ways to finish his commission, and create artwork in a way he could enjoy it. Research into accessibility, impasto techniques, and mixed-media have been really key to exploring this new realm. So, I have been practicing with adding embroidery and textured acrylic paint to my paintings.
I call this ongoing series "Art you can Feel" and I hope these pieces can be enjoyed by many people in their own unique ways, whether it be in the day time, at night, with sight, movement, or with touch. Every piece in this collection has multiple ways to interact with them.
