Sumac trees are the first to change color every fall; they blaze red, orange, and gold along the roadside and woods’ edge. The swooping branches and vibrant colors suggest a lively dance. This scene is remeniscent of the artist’s home in the northwoods of Wisconsin. The painting was begun with a poured watercolor background and completed traditionally with a brush.
