Sea Fans and Tree Fans is one of the more intricately detailed pieces in the Habitat Series. It is again a mixture of collaged paper pieces with ink drawing on pieces added and also directly on the main body of the work. Birds and fish are in groups, not directly above or below each other, and there seems to be a yellow octopus behind one fan.
Like the piece called "Seagrasses and Meadows" this painting finds similarities between the shapes of above ground and under water species. Sea Fans are actually classified as animals despite the fact that they are attached to the ground and appear more plant-like. Their structures are sometimes very fan-like as are some of the branches of trees and bushes. This has again mixed the two types of fans in an environment that could be either underwater or above ground and is therefore representing both.
