From the Series // Japan, 2009
This monk was on a long, walking meditation through the streets of Kyoto. One carful step, delicately peeling and sticking from heel to toe and then when planted firmly on both feet, he would ring only once, a tiny brass bell and wait for the vibrations to stop before continuing with walking intentions. It as like watching life in slow motion as the world passed him at warp speed.
This bamboo forest holds a quiet respite and was the ultimate 'forest bath' I've ever experienced. I spent multiple trips to Kyoto photographing this place until I could capture enough to illustrate the feeling of it.
Created while on a three month journey throughout Japan, finding luxurious dollops of nature and following the blossoming of the Sakura [cherry blossoms].
