This piece represents a return to an ongoing series that I’ve yet to begin really or complete. My original idea was to render all of the text from the government of Alberta’s oil sands section on their website. Their perspective would encapsulate the language needed to describe, explain and justify the practice of mining and processing oil sands. A work of art that presents the whole output of this public resource would encapsulate this as a cultural object or an object of humanity. It would be but a sampling of how we attempt to define our world and form codes while we pursue our existence with all its chaotic and destructive manifestations.
