The polar bear was a new motif added to my repertoire in 2019. The penguin and orca, older motifs going back to the 90s. Here the narrative seems to be finding its footing somewhere between Mary Shelly's Frankenstein and the end of capitalism. Our Jonah, a blue man with veins, has been spit out onto an arctic wasteland..or antarctic, seeing as penguins and polar bears do not occupy the same ecosystem. He has shed his Santa suit and is fixated on a stack of gold bars...exactly what his plans are, is very uncertain. Meanwhile the alpha bear pays the waiting courier; one pint-sized capitalist for his troubles. As both apex predators demonstrate through their streaming rivers of tears, breaking with the capitalist habit is not an easy game, but the bear's got his party hat on!
