  • "Even Now the Reaper Draws His Wages"
  • ink, gouache, painting
  • 18 x 24 in (45.72 x 60.96 cm)
  • Signature: Not signed or dated. The image of the teardrop wads of cash date this piece as occurring after the piece "Letter From the Grave #6" which was created in 2009 and was the original depiction of a tear drop wad of cash (owned by Robert Egert). It feels similar in paper size and sensibility to "Algorithm" created in 2010. However there are also a series of small sketches created in July 2012 that seem to reflect the same composition of a plane above a triangular arrangement of horizontal stripes. It could be that the small sketches were created as a brainstorming session for an upcoming show after pulling out older drawings. Hard to date this piece. The earliest time stamp on digital images that I can find is August 13, 2012. If this is correct, then maybe I created it after viewing the small sketches and liked the triangular stack of horizontal stripes and decided to create a larger version?
