This painting belongs to the series "Occasional Moments of Joy" and serves as Part II of a diptych titled "The Joy of Song." The first part of the diptych draws inspiration from my memory of following a group of Welsh miners on an open truck as they sang on their way home from work. This section of the diptych highlights the crucial role of schools in introducing the joy of music and its valuable educational aspect into children's lives. It addresses the current issue in British Columbia, where some school boards are reducing funding or considering eliminating this educational opportunity for children in efforts to cut costs.
