This piece is inspired by the story of a model who faced scrutiny for the size of her lips, a reflection of the restrictive and often exclusionary beauty standards in this country. Yet, despite the criticism, her undeniable beauty radiates, serving as a compelling reminder of the importance of celebrating and amplifying the beauty of Black women. As trailblazers who set trends and are admired (and often imitated) for their distinctive features, Black women deserve recognition not only for their beauty but also for their profound cultural influence.
