9.06 SIX PERSIMMIONS/Bowling Ball Beach by Keith Wilson Image: The original working premise of this collaborative effort was for Patel to put forth a photograph and for Wilson to react to it with an over-painted intervention in sumi-ink or watercolor. It took Wilson a while to respond primary because he found the photograph to be perfect in focus composition and balance. Instead he felt a strong association between the photograph and “Six Persimmons” a 13th-century Chinese painting by the monk Muqi Fachang.*
After many attempts to make this visual connection non-destructive to the serenity of the original photograph this discourse was abandoned; this print was the only successful survivor of this direction.
